Valentine’s Day 2017: Handmade gifts from the heart "I Love You Because"

Red Baker’s Twine
Hot Pink Baker’s Twine
White Lace Ribbon
Pink Personalized Pencils

Chalkboard Stickers
Chalk Marker
Glue Gun
Hot Glue

Almost 5 years ago I created a Tin for Ten 10th Anniversary Gift for my husband and the other day while I was cleaning out a bookshelf I found this little gift with a few of his other special mementos. I was touched that after all these years my husband had kept this simple gift. It reminded me that simple treasures and gifts like that are truly extraordinary, because they come from the heart. I decided to make a “I love you because …” jar for each member of our family. I put them on the counter in our kitchen and included “I love you because” printable cards and pencils so our family can write love notes to each other all month long. This is such an easy way to focus on showing family members how special and appreciated they are. It helps us focus on the positive

Step 1:

Tie the lace ribbon and twine around the jar. I used a tiny dab of hot glue to hold the ribbon in place on the jar.



Step 2:

Thread a piece of twine through one of the heart charms and tie it to the middle of the ribbon.



Step 3:

Print and cut out the free “I love you because …” printable cards.



Step 4:

Add a chalkboard label to the top of the jar and write each family members name on their jar with a chalk marker.



Step 5:

Fill a container with pencils and the printable cards and set them out next to the jars so family members can fill them out.



Step 6:

Drop your love notes in the jar and watch them fill up.



Everyone will love finding new notes in their special jar. These heart-felt love notes will become a gift that is treasured for many years to come.
